Guests are always welcome to these informative programs. Just show up at the Gloria McClellan Senior Center, 1400 Vale Terrace in Vista, CA. Lunch is at noon, programs follow a short business meeting and usually start at approximately 1:30pm.

09/01/2017 Tour—We will be touring a non-members vibrant garden with artistically arranged succulents and a member’s self designed waterwise garden and a streetscape cul-de-sac.
Carpool from the Senior Center at 9 a.m.  
Robert Kopfstein got involved with bromeliads in the mid 1960's, and specializes in the terrestrials. He is past president of the San Diego Bromeliad Society, and Bromeliad Society International, and many other horticulture societies. He will address the different types of bromeliads, and how to make them thrive. Some stunning bromeliads will go to the raffle table.
10/06/2017 Workshop —Plants and Pots Galore—3 stops—Secret amazing garden shop—Native Pottery—Eclectic Nursery.

The California Greek Girl, Mary Platis – Educator, Co-Owner and executive chef of the Greek Gourmet, is the author of a new eBook currently working on building a culinary program, and writing a cookbook. We will learn the benefits of olive oil over other oils – Opa, So Cal Style!
10/25/2017 Special Tour—FROLICKING IN FALLBROOK We will be going to Valley Fort Garden Shops, Diane's Herbs, Second Changce Barn, Madd Potter Nursery, Lunch at Aqua Terra Restaurant overlooking the Pala Mesa Golf Resort. A sign-up sheet for reservations will be available at the September meeting.

12/01/2017 Workshop – We will continue the VGC tradition of making small dish gardens for donation to a local care facility for shut-ins during the holidays.

George Speer is highly qualified in the floral design field.Some of his credits are: Palomar District Past Director; on the CGCI Board of Directors; a NGC, Inc. Flower Show Judge, and Floral Design Forum instructor. His designs won 1st and 2nd place in the design division of our flower show. George will present a floral design class on Christmas arrangements, then donate them to the raffle table. Not to be missed!

The Past President, San Diego North County African Violet Society, Barbara Conrad will speak on the propagation, cultivation and basic care of African Violets. Growing beautiful African violets is a challenge, but Barbara will demystify all of it..
02/02/2018 We will be touring a non-member's amazing garden featuring Cycads, Palms, and Succulents, with a stop at a nursery afterwards.

Sharon Reeve has double degrees in Landscape Architecture and Horticulture, a masters in Biology, with an emphasis in Ecology. Sharon a San Diego Master Gardner, is the perfect speaker to present ‘Native Bees of California and How to Garden to Encourage Them’..
03/02/2018 Workshop—What will you do with all the bounty from your vegetable & fruit garden? Learn about preserving, canning, freezing, dehydrating, etc. Put on by Carol & Gail workshop chairs and member Carol Johnson.

Floral design demonstrations covering the different design divisions of our annual flower show will be presented to encourage everyone to enter.
04/06/2018 We will be touring 2 member’s spacious, inspiring, gardens with a variety of plants and projects.

Known as ‘The Hummingbird Lady’, Marion Stacey, is a savior of hummingbirds that are in peril. Through her Hummingbird Rescue Center, she raises, rescues and rehabilitates them to fly back into the wild; healthy and free. Come listen as she shares her knowledge and stories, some funny, others touching, of her ‘hummers’.
